How to Prepare for a Website Discovery Call

A discovery call is a friendly, no-pressure chat to work out whether a website partnership makes sense. You do not need a brief or a design in your head. A few minutes of thinking beforehand makes the conversation far more useful.

Know your goal

What should the site do for you? Examples: bring in enquiries, take bookings, sell products, or simply look credible when someone searches your name. Pick the one that matters most.

Describe your customer

Who are you trying to reach, and what do they worry about before they contact you? Two or three sentences are plenty.

Gather a few examples

  • Two or three sites you like, and one line on why
  • Any existing site, if you have one, and what annoys you about it
  • Your logo, colors or photos, if they exist

Be honest about your time

How much can you realistically give? If the answer is “almost none”, say so. That is the exact situation this service is designed for.

Questions worth asking

  1. What is included each month, and what costs extra?
  2. How quickly are updates done?
  3. Who owns the domain and content?
  4. What happens if I want to stop?

What happens next

After the call, you will get a clear recommendation on scope and next steps, with no obligation. If you have not yet started, the quiz on the home page takes a couple of minutes and gives us a head start.
